5-Minute Bike Safety Check Before Every Ride
Share
A quick check before you ride can prevent most common problems on the road or trail. Before heading out, run through these five steps:
1. Check your tires
Make sure they feel firm and look free of cuts, cracks, or embedded debris. Proper tire pressure improves comfort, grip, and control.
2. Test your brakes
Squeeze both brake levers. They should feel firm, and the pads should engage without touching the handlebars.
3. Check your chain
Look for excessive dirt, rust, or dryness. A clean, lightly lubricated chain helps your bike shift smoothly and protects the drivetrain.
4. Make sure everything is secure
Give your wheels, handlebars, saddle, and accessories a quick check. Nothing should move or rattle unexpectedly.
5. Bring the essentials
Carry water, a spare tube or flat kit, tire levers, a pump, and a charged phone. Even a short ride can turn into a long one when the unexpected happens.
This simple check takes only a few minutes and helps make every ride safer and more enjoyable. If something doesn’t feel right, bring your bike into Brentwood Cycle and we’ll help you get rolling again.
